USPA NEWS - President Obama and the First Lady welcomed His Holiness Pope Francis to the White House on Wednesday, September 23 during his first trip to the United States. During the visit, the President and the Pope will continue the dialogue that began during the President's visit to the Vatican in March 2014

This week thousands of people joined President Obama to welcome His Holiness Pope Francis to the United States. The pontiff's visit highlighted shared values and commitments on many issues.-------------------------------------------------------------- Pope Francis said that "climate change is a problem that can no longer be left to a future generation." During this week it will be the chance to putting the spotlight on Social Innovation Fund grantees that invest in evidence-based solutions. Here is the schedule of the pontiff´s visit to United States of America September 2015.------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------THE SCHEDULE OF POPE FRANCIS IN WASHINGTON DC-------------------Pope Francis arrived in D.C. at Joint Base Andrews at on Wednesday September 23 at 4pm. The day after, the Pope attended a ceremony at the White House Arrival Ceremony and personal meeting with President Obama.The White House Arrival Ceremony is not open to the public. Guests must have a ticket to attend. Following the Pope´s meeting with the President, he made a tour the Ellipse and parts of the National Mall. At Midday is time for the Prayer with U.S. bishops at Saint Matthew´s Cathedral in D.C. The pope, then visited Junipero Serra Canonisation Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, at 4.15pm. On September 24, The pope made a speech to the Senate and House of Representatives (Joint Session of Congress), in the morning. After the congress session speech,t the pontiff visited St. Patrick´s Catholic Church in D.C. and Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington. After his visit to St. Patrick´s Catholic Church in D.C. and Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, the Pope scheduled to travel to New York. He departed heading to the big Apple from Joint Base Andrews (D.C.) at 4pm. He arrived 5pm, at John F. Kennedy International Airport (New York).
