FRENCH PRIME MINISTRY VALIDATES REPORT OF INSEE & BRUEGEL PETERSON INSTITUTE

SEVERAL MONTHS REPORT OF INSEE & BRUEGEL PETERSON INSTITUTE VALIDATED BY PRIME MINISTRY

At the end of several months of work, Jean-Luc Tavernier, Director General of INSEE and Nicolas Veron, economist at Bruegel and the Peterson Institute presented to the Prime Minister the report established as part of the mission she entrusted them with economic analysis organizations and the evaluation of public policies.

French PM, Elisabeth Borne welcomes their work and would like to thank them for their in-depth report.
PRIME MINISTER ELISABETH BORNE SHARES THE MAIN CONCLUSIONS OF THE REPORT, INCLUDING :

• The ecosystem of organizations producing economic and economic analysis in France has grown significantly thanks to continued funding provided by the State.
• It now makes it possible to inform the public debate through a plurality of rich and quality analyses.
• The development of the public policy evaluation ecosystem must continue by strengthening support and its modalities.

• It is essential to continue investing in these organizations in order to guarantee public policies based on solid and objective analyses.

• In addition, the Prime Minister supports the proposed rapprochement between the OCFE (French Observatory of Economic Conditions) and the Cepii (Center for Prospective Studies and International Information) given their strong scientific complementarity. Their merger would provide France with a research and economic expertise organization on French and international issues with European visibility.
The Prime Minister urges her government to continue to support the ecosystem of economic analysis and expertise organizations in France. It recognizes the importance of these actors for a better understanding of current economic issues and the implementation of effective public policies.
