USPA NEWS - The UK's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, welcomed today, wednesday 8 February, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, at 10 Downing Street, walking all the way over a red carpet, where he receive heavy applause and standing ovation, from the guest along the hallway. The leaders discussed the latest situation on the ground in Ukraine and the Prime Minister said he was focussed on ensuring the UK’s defensive military equipment reached the front line as quickly as possible.
The two leaders went together to visit the Ukrainian soldiers who had already begun training on Challenger 2 tanks in the UK this week. Both leaders agreed that it was vital that international partners accelerated their assistance to Ukraine to help seize the opportunity to push Russian forces back, as well as looking at how they could support the long term capability of Ukraine’s armed forces. The greatest weapon in Ukraine’s arsenal was the collective international unity in support of Ukraine, the leaders agreed. The UK's PM and the President Zelensky held a genuine press conference and answered to the journalists. PM Sunak said he does n't "exclude" when it comes to sending jets to Ukraine.

The Prime Minister said he had met Ukrainian troops training in the UK last week, and was inspired by their courage and the stories of their loved ones back home. He added that they had paid tribute to President Zelenskyy’s strong leadership.

Discussing the lead up to the one year anniversary of Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, both leaders agreed on the importance of UN partners once again demonstrating their solidarity with Ukraine.

President Zelensky's plane landed at London Stansted airport, north of London, on a Royal Air Force aircraft today on February 8, 2023. It was his first trip to the United Kingdom since Russia's invasion began nearly a year ago and after visiting the US. President Joe Biden, at the White House and being warmly welcomed at the US Congress, last 22 December, it is his second confirmed journey outside Ukraine during the war since his country was hot in February 24, 2022..
President Zelensky has also addressed UK's Parliament, at the House of Commons an met with HH King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, as well as UK military chiefs. The visit coincides with UK's PM Rishi Sunak unveiling that Britain will train Ukrainian pilots on "NATO-standard fighter jets." Yet, wit regard to the airplane jets, the PM Sunak was cautious by answering the media " nothing is excluded", like if was not confirming the British jets to Ukraine.
