Omar Hilale, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Morocco to the United Nations made Friday at the UN, a presentation on the challenges and logistics of COP22, to be held in Marrakech from 7 to 18 November.-------------------------- Ambassadors accredited States to the United Nations and representatives of international organizations attended the briefing. The Ambassador Hilale recalled that the Paris Agreement has placed the fight against global warming in a perspective of sustainable development and solidarity. He stressed that the agreement confirms in this respect the fundamental principle of common but differentiated in relation to the climate change accountability, and with due account of situations in developing countries, particularly the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States.-------------------------------- Hilale expressed the satisfaction of the Kingdom with regard to the Paris Agreement of the ratification process on climate change, including the entry into force is scheduled for 4 November 2016. The ratification process was conducted in record time ever for international agreements of this scale.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- His Majesty King Mohammed VI to chair Top Level Segment of the Conference, attended by Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General. Invitations were sent to the African Heads of State for a summit to be held on November 16 to address issues of climate change in the African Continent. Hilale detailed the appropriate information on the logistics of the conference. After his presentation, ambassadors commended Morocco for hosting the COP22 and asked practical questions about the registration of delegations to the Conference, the visa and side events. After providing the requested information, Ambassador Hilale said that after the Paris Conference, which was a conference of policy-making, Morocco wants to make the Marrakesh Conference conference action and implementation of the Paris agreement to combat climate change for the benefit of all humanity.
