THE FRENCH ENERGY TRANSITION LAW APPLIED IN A NEW LEGAL FRAMEWORK

In France “Drive vehicles“ delegation, also called "autonomous vehicles" are the next revolution in mobility. Open prospects are immense in terms of regulation and security of traffic, route optimisation and fuel consumption times. This is how the energy transition law is implemented to facilitate experiments autonomous vehicles. The law is presented by both the ministry of Ecology and Economy, respectively by Segolene Royal and Emmanuel Macron.  THE ARTICLE 37 OF THE ENERGY TRANSITION ACT EMPOWERS THE GOVERNMENT TO ACT--------------------- The experiments of all types of driving delegation vehicles intended to operate on public roads for an individual or collective use are increasing at international and national level. This major technological change calls for a new legal framework. This is why Article 37 of the Energy Transition Act empowers the Government to take measures by ordinance "to allow traffic on highway vehicles or partial delegation of conduct, be it cars, vehicles, freight or passenger transport vehicles, for experimental purposes, under conditions ensuring the safety of all road users [...]. "The draft order presented by the Cabinet aims to provide an adequate legal framework to allow such experiments on public roads, following consultation with local authority managers and police officials of these pathways.------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This order is part of the roadmap of the industrial plan "Autonomous Vehicle" of New France Industrial, aimed at making the French automotive industry and road transport a pioneer in the design of autonomous vehicle for all . It allows France to be recognized as an experimental ground of autonomous vehicle, a center of excellence for embedded intelligence and a leader in safety complex systems, to prepare the new mobility of tomorrow.
