Congressman Chaka Fattah a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced that 33 organizations in the Philadelphia area will be receiving federal grants to engage the community in the arts. A total of $737,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) will support a diverse range of activities from making fine arts more accessible to elementary schools and their families, to community-building art projects in low-income neighborhoods.
The grant, Art Works, funds projects that excel in public outreach. The funds dispersed through Art Works will support organizations that have proven their ability to create art, engage communities, promote lifelong learning, and use the arts to bring communities closer.
