The Spanish Police have arrested the administrator of an active site of audiovisual downloads "pirates" in Spanish featuring thousands of titles violate the rights of the legitimate owners. The domain was created in 2012 by hiding the identification of the owners.
Behind him a company whose alleged goal was the sale of vehicles and other products over the Internet. Only during last February, the website received more than 2,000,000 user visits from Spain, Latin America and the United States, making a profit of more than 100,000 Euros per publicity in the last two years. When arrested they are attributed intellectual property crimes and money laundering. Two of his brothers have been investigated, but not arrested, as part of this operation.
The investigation began a year ago when specialized agents received the complaint Entity Management of Audiovisual Producers Rights of Spain. Then they could see that a domain, created in 2012, had been registered by a specialized company that ensured the anonymity of the data manager and responsible for the web. Police investigations revealed that behind the portal, a company which was supposed objective was the sale of vehicles and other products over the Internet.
More than 100,000 Euros profit in two years
The Police could also check that the web was frequented by millions of Spanish-speaking users of Spain, Latin America and the United States, who could download movies, series and other material via links to various works. In this way, the administrator got huge amounts of money depending on the number of users and their activity before announcements. The benefits for the inclusion of these banners would exceed 100,000 Euros in two years.
After further investigations, the officers found that the registered office declared was fictitious and had no activity related to society. At check carried out on a home of Valladolid -in the downtown area of Spain- they have been seized two computers, two hard drives and 5,220 Euros in cash. We have also blocked two bank accounts allegedly used to launder money obtained from this illegal activity. The site has been closed by Court order and arrested the administrator of it. The two brothers have also been accused arrested and are being investigated.
