In a ceremony held in Tehran´s Velayat Park, Atomic Energy Ooragnization of Iran Chief Ali Akbar Salehi, Health Minister Seyed Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi, and Tehran´s Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of the nuclear hospital. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed a couple of months after Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion on a 159-page nuclear agreement that would terminate all sanctions imposed on Tehran over its nuclear energy program after coming into force. It seems that among the objectives of Iran´s nuclear program is to use the technology in the field of medicine, namely research and development as well as production of radiomedicines.

In an interview with the Science magazine published on its website on August 12, 2015, Director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi touched upon the issue of centrifuges as one of the hot-button issues during negotiations between Tehran and six world powers over Iran´s nuclear program.
Ali Akbar Salehi also underlined that Iran is working to master the nuclear fuel cycle, expressing hope that the country will be able to “complete the fuel cycle“ through international cooperation and having restrictions removed. He also said Iran, in cooperation with China, is to construct a complex in the central Iranian city of Arak, which will move the country ahead several decades given the technology involved.
