A STRONG AND SYMBOLIC MOMENT FOR THE INDEPENDENCE PALESTINIAN FLAG This is a very strong and historic symbol for Palestine that is keeping demanding to be recognised as a state. "In this historic moment, I said to my people everywhere hoist the Palestinian flag high, because it is the symbol of our identity. This is a proud day." Said Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This flag was adopted between 1964 and 1974 resulting from the liberation movement and symbol of independence. The flag of Palestine is the flag commonly associated with the state of Palestine, a territory which is partially recognised by international bodies like the UN. It is above all a symbol of the protest of the Palestinians in the conflict between them against Israel. The flag of Palestine is composed of three horizontal bands of black, white and green with a red triangle to the left. These are the pan-Arab colours. Palestine is an observer member of the UN. The flag was adopted in 1948 by the Arab Higher Committee at the proclamation of the Government in Gaza to "all of Palestine".
