Gunmen attack funeral in northern Mexico, at least 9 killed

USPA News - The death toll rose to nine after a group of armed men attacked a funeral procession in northern Mexico, officials said Tuesday. The attack occurred at around 4:20 p.m. on Monday afternoon in Torreon, the state capital of Coahuila, when a group of gunmen traveling in three vehicles opened fire against those attending the funeral at the city`s Time Garden Cemetery.
According to Coahuila`s Attorney General`s Office, a number of victims responded, triggering a violent gunfight in which four people were initially killed. The other five victims later succumbed to their wounds at local hospitals on Monday and Tuesday. In addition, at least 21 others were also injured. Among them were nine men, nine women, as well as four minor girls. Local police did not arrive during the confrontation, and authorities said the funeral was being conducted for a man who had been assassinated last Saturday, as the confrontation apparently involved two rival groups.
