We Spring Forward This Weekend in Europe

Daylight Saving Time

(Source: L'Observateur)
USPA NEWS - It is that time of year again. Time for us to turn our clocks forward an hour, to give us daylight longer in the day.
Most countries in Europe will spring forward one hour at 01:00 UTC on March 27, 2022. The local time for the change is different in each time zone. The United States and Canada already turned their clocks ahead on March 13th.
Frustrations with the daylight saving time clock changes have led the European Parliament to draft a law to permanently remove daylight saving time in the European Union. The removal was initially planned for 2021, but it did not happen. In 2020 and 2021, Europe, like the rest of the world, was busy handling the health and economic effects of Covid-19. Negotiations have still not started in the European Council. Time changes in Europe are synchronized. According to the current EU law, daylight saving time starts on the last Sunday of March and ends on the last Sunday of October.
The U.S. Senate last week, passed legislation that would make daylight saving time permanent starting in 2023, ending the twice-annual changing of clocks in a move promoted by supporters advocating brighter afternoons and more economic activity. The Senate approved the measure, called the Sunshine Protection Act, unanimously by voice vote. The House of Representatives, which has held a committee hearing on the matter, must still pass the bill before it can go to President Joe Biden to sign.
