On June 14, 2016, during the EUROSATORY 2016 (The Land & Airland Solution' - Defence & Security International Exhibition in PARIS), the launch of LIMA 17 was officiated by Army chief Jen Raja Mohammed Affandi Raja Mohammed, who was the Head of the Malaysian Delegation at Eurosatory. A Press Conference was given at 11.00 am at the Malaysian Pavilion. The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA´17) will return for its 14th installation from 21 to 25 March 2017. It will be held at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) for the Aerospace Exhibition and Resort World Langkawi for the Maritime Exhibition.
Held biennially since 1999, LIMA´17 is jointly-organised by the Malaysia Ministry of Defence and EN Projects (M) Sdn Bhd. The event is one of the largest maritime and aerospace exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific, and is focused mainly on the defence industry, but also supports civilian industries. LIMA began in 1991 with slightly over 100 exhibiting companies with the aim of making Langkawi the venue for light and experimental aircraft to fly unhampered by heavy traffic, modeled after the EAA Air Venture in the USA. LIMA has now expanded into maritime exhibitions and is also one of Asia-Pacific's largest maritime and air exhibitions.
The event is supported by the Malaysian government and industry associations. LIMA'17 is shaping up to be the best installment yet with an expanded commercial agenda and a focus on ASEAN. Key players from the maritime and aerospace industries with a keen eye on the region will be making their presence felt at LIMA'17.
