Obama said : "Michelle and I join our fellow Christians around the world in observing Good Friday and celebrating Easter this weekend. With humility and awe, we give thanks for the extraordinary sacrifice that Jesus made for our salvation. We rejoice in the triumph of the Resurrection. And we renew our commitment to live as He commanded ““ to love God with all our heart, soul and mind, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. I look forward  to continuing our celebration on Tuesday when I host our annual Easter prayer breakfast as we remember the teachings of Jesus in our daily lives, stand with those around the world who are persecuted for their faith, and pray for peace, justice and freedom for all people. The President Obama hosts traditional White House Pessah Seder. First Family holds Seder for 7th year in a row, inviting Jewish aides and officials to bring their family's recipes; acknowledging how Passover inspired generations of Americans in struggle for civil rights. They described as "the Israelites´ arduous journey through the desert from slavery in Egypt to liberation in the Promised Land."---------------------------- PASSOVER FOR THE JEW : CELEBRATION OF THE HEBREWS EXODUS FROM SLAVERY IN EGYPT BY GOD Passover "Pesach" in Hebrew, the holiday commemorating the Hebrews' exodus from slavery in Egypt, lasts seven days in Israel and among Reform Jews, and eight days elsewhere around the world. It begins on the 15th day of Nisan, which is the seventh month in the Jewish calendar. It ends on the 21st of Nisan in Israel (and for Reform Jews) and on the 22nd of Nisan elsewhere. Since Hebrew days begin and end at sundown, Passover begins at sundown on the preceding day. For the Jewish people it is a symbol of their freedom as a nation under the leadership of Moses. It commemorates the story of the Exodus as described in the Hebrew Bible especially in the Book of Exodus. According to standard biblical chronology, this event would have taken at about 1300 BCE (AM2450).--------------------THE WHITE HOUSE MENU FOR PESSAH 2015--- The full menu for this year, prepared by White House Chef Cris Comerford, White House Pastry Chef Susan Morrison, and Susan Barocas, included: THE MENU as followed------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Gefilte fish Haroset (Ashkenazic tradition)“¨Patricia Winter, Mother of Melissa Winter Moroccan Haroset Balls (Sephardic tradition) Chicken Soup with Matzoh Balls“¨Joan Mass, Grandmother of Herbie Ziskend Beet and Butternut Squash Salad Sauté of Green Onions and Radish Carrot Souffl铨Joan Lesser, Mother of Eric Lesser Roasted Potatoes with Garlic and Onion Roasted Sweet Potatoes Savory Holiday Brisket“¨Contributed by Susan Sher Seared Salmon with Roasted Artichokes Chicken with Preserved Lemons and Green Olives Raspberry Ganache Marjolaine“¨Jewel Chaudhary, Mother of Arun Chaudhary Triple Layer Chocolate Macaroon Cake Assorted Macaroons:“¨Chocolate Chunk Cinnamon Macaroons“¨Almond Coconut Macaroons-------------------------------------------  Read more: A tale of Two Easters , www.chabad.org, www.whitehouse.gov
