Eleven injured in the fourth Encierro of the Sanfermines of Pamplona
All, by blows and falls
USPA NEWS -
The official medical part of the fourth Encierro of the Sanfermines of Pamplona reflects eleven assistance, of which seven required transfer to the University Hospital of Navarra. Of the eleven wounded, ten were Spanish and one British. In Encierro he had dangerous moments and great tension, when two runners were knocked over by the bulls from the Fuente Ymbro of Cádiz ranch.
The most seriously injured is Francisco Javier González, constable of the Las Ventas bullring in Madrid. He was thrown into the air by one of the bulls on the Estafeta street, hitting his head as he fell to the ground. The bull trampled on his face and other bulls jumped on his body. He was transferred semi unconscious to the University Hospital of Navarra, where he is under observation. The rest of the injured have polytraumatisms and polycontusions, but the Encierro, one of the fastest so far, ended without injuries from bull horns.
The Encierros reached its half this Monday, when the festivities are already facing their final stretch. The Sanfermines will end next Thursday, with the singing of 'Pobre de mí' and the appointment of the entire city of Pamplona for next year. But until then, there are still festivities and desire to enjoy. The streets of Pamplona are still packed with people and the bars and restaurants in the city center are satisfied because these festivals earn a significant part of their annual budget.
The city is in a conspiracy against violence against women. After the attacks suffered by women in past years, some of great newsworthiness, this year the festivities are taking place with few shocks. Only the stabbing of a young man for not having a cigar and an alleged sexual assault in an apartment in Pamplona mar the party. The weather accompanies, not in vain the Sanfermines are celebrated in Summer. And that encourages the people of Pamplona and visitors to live on the street enjoying the Encierros, the bullfights, the concerts and the gastronomic tastings. Pamplona offers a complete festive program, with activities for all ages.
Among others, this Monday a 'Literary Route: on the trail of Hemingway' was held at the La Perla hotel, where the American writer lived during his stays in Pamplona to experience the Sanfermines. Hemingway's spirit continues to float in the air of Pamplona, one hundred years after his first visit to the city.
