Musician Paul McCartney cancels Japan tour due to illness

USPA News - English musician Paul McCartney, who gained worldwide fame as a member of the rock band The Beatles in the 60s and 70s, has been forced to cancel the remainder of his Japanese tour as he continues to suffer from an unspecified virus, organizers said on Tuesday. A spokesperson for McCartney, 71, said it was decided to cancel the remaining shows in Japan after the legendary musician had already been forced to cancel scheduled appearances at the National Stadium in Tokyo over the weekend.
It is unclear if a concert scheduled for May 28 in the South Korean capital of Seoul will also be canceled. "Paul is still not feeling better and this cancellation is unavoidable," the spokesperson said on Tuesday. "He was hoping to be better but the doctors have ordered him complete rest. Paul has been extremely moved by the messages from his fans and is upset to be letting them down." Representatives of the musician have not disclosed details about the illness, but concert organizer Kyodo Tokyo said McCartney was resting at his Tokyo hotel room and being cared for by doctors. A previous statement from the musician himself said he came down with a virus on Friday and had been told by doctors not to perform. "I was really looking forward to playing in Japan again after we had such an amazing time here in November. So to cancel these shows as well as the National Stadium shows is hugely disappointing for me as well," McCartney said in a new statement on Tuesday. "I`d like to thank my Japanese fans for their love, messages of support and understanding. I hope to see you all again soon."
