The United Nations Information Center Nigeria, in collaboration with the Global Environmental and Climate Conservation Initiative, will host Nigeria Youth Post COP26 conferences across Nigeria to be held between December 2021 and February 2022.
The 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, is being heralded as a crucial moment for the world's leaders to boost their ambition in pledging to take strong climate action that will limit global temperature rise. COP26 takes place from Sunday 31 Oct until Friday 12 Nov.

Hosted by the United Kingdom in partnership with Italy, the conference will bring together almost 200 countries, and see them boost their ambition to cut emissions over the coming years.

Therefore, GECCI wishes to further give special recognition to Green Actors with awards of excellence.

OBJECTIVES AND EXPECTED OUTCOME:
¬ To gain a better understanding of the COP26 outcome and what it means for Nigeria's climate policy and economic development.
¬ A roadmap for the domestication of the outcome of COP26
¬ Empowering youth to explore innovative ideas to tackle development challenges.
¬ Creating an Opportunity for Joint Reflection of Key Stakeholders and Experts on the Outcome of COP26 and the Implications for Nigeria.
¬ To gain a better understanding of the COP26 outcome and what it means for Nigeria's climate policy and economic development.
¬ A roadmap for the domestication of the outcome of COP26
¬ Empowering youth to explore innovative ideas to tackle development challenges.
¬ Creating an Opportunity for Joint Reflection of Key Stakeholders and Experts on the Outcome of COP26 and the Implications for Nigeria.
¬ Develop an Implementation Roadmap for National Climate Actions that will Leverage the Opportunities for Just Green Transition that were Created at COP 26 while Strengthening Nigeria's Resilience Against Climate Change.
¬ Providing youth with the tools to build and engage in impactful projects.
¬ Identifying interest in and opportunities for capacity development, partnerships, and further action.
The conferences will also bring together participants from government and non-profit organizations, the private sector, members of academia, and civil society organizations and will constitute key programs including keynote presentations, Panelist Discussions, and breakout rooms.
This event is being hosted by the United Nations Information Center Nigeria in collaboration with the Global Environmental and Climate Conservation Initiative and other prominent organizations across the country, including the Federal Ministry of Environment and State Ministries of Environment.
